A note to remind Friends that this Sunday is the third Sunday in August, so there will be a Meeting for Worship at the Springs with Bob Lucas: at 3710 American Way in the 3rd Floor chapel room. Meeting for Worship at the Meeting House will continue on the summer schedule at 10:00 a.m.-- Meeting at the Springs is at 11:00.

The first Quaker potluck of the season is Wednesday, July 2 at 6:30 at JoAnn's house. Call JoAnn at 214-1003 if you need easy directions. Everyone is welcome for this fun time.

Summer hours

On June 22 we will switch to our summer hours with Meeting for Worship at 10 a.m., leaving the later hours for recreation and the pursuit of relaxation in the glorious outdoors.

Grace's memorial service

Ted is serving as coordinator for Grace's memorial service and is working with members of her family, who wish for us to have the memorial on June 14. Stand ready to volunteer: the date may shift, because another memorial (for Judy Smith) is slated on that date.

NPYM scholarships

Ted reminded us the people who want to attend North Pacific Yearly Meeting this year may apply for scholarship funds from the local Meeting before June 8. Contact Ted or Judy V. if this is you.

Family Promise service week

Our Family Promise service week is the third week in June, 2014. Nancy will be traveling off and on in June, so she referred Friends who wish to sign up to the local webpage for Missoula Family Promise: http://familypromisemissoula.net/

In the most recent Meeting for Worship, Carol spoke of her joy in seeing Alex being able to thrive in his progress through his education. She also expressed thanks for the Meeting's support through the years. Alex has been accepted at a fine Quaker college -- Earlham.

Fruitful meeting on March 9

We had a fruitful meeting on March 9 and welcomed Dineya (sp?) and Jeremy. Chris gave a thoughtful message about Missoula's Beethoven week and Beethoven's Prisoners' Chorus which focuses on regaining Light, even if the jailers are watching everything.

Special Quaker Ed Sessions KITCHEN TABLE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ADVANCE CARE PLANNING SUNDAYS MARCH 23 & 30 12:30-2:30 pm Kathy & Brian Derry of University Congregational Church have developed and will lead this workshop for Quakers on the Sundays above. This is an opportunity for in-depth discussion and learning about talking with our loved ones about our end of life wishes. A workbook will be provided and it is for all ages of adults. The word from other participants this year is that these discussions have been rich and helpful. Both sessions will start with soup downstairs after Meeting. As space is limited, please sign up, singly or as couples, by March 16th by replying to Nancy Cochran at nqmontana@gmail.com. We thank the Derrys for their special ministry.

Our Meeting on 12/29 was a cozy one. We few Friends had a good Meeting and then adjourned to Soup (another excellent one from Bev). At Soup, we were all able to sit around one table and shared many book titles we'd been spending time with. Our reading was quite heavy with tech titles, but that's where we (mostly) are.
